A letter from Ari, our Creative Director

As I’m writing this year end letter, I feel a mix of emotions. In a usual year, the winter solstice and holidays mark the end of this year and usually brings in an air of excitement for the new year–but 2020 and 2021 are not normal years. No one is entering 2022 unscathed, we’ve all suffered (granted, at varying levels), but we’ve all shared in struggling with change, the exhaustion that uncertainty brings, and at some level fear of ‘what’s next’.

I’m not writing to convince you of silver linings or to put a positive spin on things. But I am writing to say, you’re here– and for that, I’m so grateful. The ‘you’ that is here reading this letter, might be a different ‘you’ than before– and that’s okay. We’ve collectively been through a lot, and if you take nothing else from this note, know that I’m glad you’re here. I truly don’t know how I would have made it through these last two years without the support of the passionate, creative, kind people I call my community.

And despite 2021 being one of the hardest, we have been fortunate to expand our community in a handful of very meaningful ways:

  • As a studio, we’ve grown and are now a small, but mighty team of ten with a beautifully varied set of talents, gifts, and skills. I’m incredibly grateful for our design team who constantly amaze me with their innovation, humor, and kindness. With this growth in our team, we are able to offer even more design services to better support our clients.

  • On the topic of clients–our client list has expanded into new categories and scales this year! We’ve been so fortunate to work with passionate people and we have had the privilege of supporting them along their path. Maybe I’m biased, but I’m pretty sure we have the best clients– the levels of dedication, creativity, and skill our clients’ possess never ceases to amaze me.

  • Although we’re “visual people” and usually storytell in this medium, we’re venturing into the world of audio! I’m thrilled to share that we’ve been working on a podcast! It’s called Vicinity, where we talk with creativity, small business, and our interconnected worlds. In this podcast, we invite folks in our vicinity (pun intended) to share their full stories in a new way. There’s something undeniably compelling about hearing a person’s story in their own voice. Our first episode launches January 17, but you can listen to the trailer (and if you’re so compelled, subscribe so you’re notified when our weekly episodes drop).

While we don’t know what’s in store for 2022, what I hope for myself and my community as we enter the new year is health, rest, connection, and well-being. I hope to connect with you in the new year. Reach out if you’d like to book a project with us in 2022.  As always, we’re here to help you visualize beautiful ideas.
