Semi-Finalist of Black Ambition Prize by Pharrell
In our last newsletter, we shared that we were selected as Semi-Finalists in Pharrell’s Black Ambition Prize! I wanted to share a bit more about our newest endeavor and how the Black Ambition Prize program is supporting our work. But before we dive into the exciting stuff, let me take you back to where it all began. Viscera Studio started as a brick-and-mortar storefront named Viscera. Over time, entrepreneurs visiting my shop were impressed by our branding, marketing, and design, leading me to take on freelance projects. As demand grew, we expanded into a full-fledged studio with a team of 5 full-time staff and 7 contractors.
As our studio flourished, we started working with larger-scale clients. While that's great, it saddened me that we couldn't serve as many emerging businesses and mom-and-pop shops as we wanted to. Small businesses hold a special place in my heart because they are the visionaries and do-ers who pour their hearts into their passions. They're the lifeblood of our community, giving our cities a unique identity and vibrant spirit.
To bridge this gap and support even more entrepreneurs, I had a lightbulb moment: why not develop an app that allows us to help small business owners at scale? I've had this idea brewing for a while, and I finally pitched it to the Black Ambition Prize, and guess what? They chose us as semi-finalists! As part of the program, we receive incredible support to make this big dream a reality.
So, hold on tight, because we're making it happen! Our app aims to assist small business owners in managing their growth strategically. We want them to focus on iterative growth and make smart investments at the right time, all backed by data-driven recommendations. But that's not all! We're also building features to organize business information and create an operations manual, making it easier for entrepreneurs to hire and delegate tasks efficiently.
We're passionate about empowering small businesses and helping them thrive. With the Black Ambition Prize behind us, we're more determined than ever to make a positive impact on the entrepreneurial community.
